All Things Ubby
When artist Deborah Bujnak was a child, her little brother and sister called her "Ubby"--that's how "Debbie" came out. Now Deborah creates under that name, and All Things Ubby is a mix of both her doll making and animal safety passions.
Debbie's Minkories is a compassionate doll-making adventure in which Debbie makes a new huggable creation from a family heirloom such as an old fur coat or flannel shirt. And All Things Bindle is pet "luggage" that can easily hang off your pet's crate or near their leash, a place to collect tags, vet records, and other needs.
Debbie will be donating four Bindle Buddy Bags to Warrior Service Dogs--don't forget your donation on Saturday! And be sure to check out All Things Ubby at the sale to learn more about Debbie's art. We'll see you soon!

Outside Inspiration
Artist Karen McCall spends lots of time in the woods, and what she encounters outside inspires her
artwork.
She uses acrylic paints made for fabric to paint the flour sack towels and onesies, and her cards are linoleum block prints. She carves the design out of a linoleum block. This process is almost like creating a negative of a photograph, carving out the opposite of what will be printed. Karen leaves the cards blank so folks can add their own greetings for whatever holiday they celebrate.

Announcing: The 2015 Fall Show!
Exciting news: our fall flyer is up!
Our fall sale will be held on Saturday, November 21 at 2233 Vienna-Dozier Road in
Pfafftown, NC. Gates will open at 10:00 AM, and admission is one dollar
for adults (kids are free). Please bring your own shopping bags, and
like the ladies on our flier, carpool if you can! Brookstown United Methodist Church, located on the corner ofYadkinville Road and Lewisville-Vienna Road,
has generously agreed to let us use
their parking lot again this year. The church is about ¼ mile from the
show site. There will be a shuttle bus to take you to and from the
event. The shuttle will be FREE! (However, we’re pretty sure the
driver would gladly accept tips.) If you choose to park at the church,
please park in marked
spaces only (not on the grass).
One you get to the sale, we'll have food and drinks while they last. And once again, you can dance to the music by Wicker and Jones as you shop or snack!
We'll also be raising money for Warrior Service Dogs.
As you may know from previous sales, Warrior Service Dogs is a nonprofit based in Asheville, NC dedicated to
linking trained rescue dogs to veterans suffering with the challenges
of PTSD. During the fall show, we'll collect cash donations and items
like moist dog treats, dog crates of all sizes, leashes, collars,
collapsible dog bowls, and more for this fabulous organization.
And last but not least, for
2015, the Whimsical Women are adding an easy and exciting service opportunity
to the Fall Show. Have you ever thrown out or recycled a prescription pill
bottle? Landfills do not need our empty plastic prescription pill
containers, but someone in Africa could use them to keep their medicine clean
and out of the reach of small children. The Malawi Project does just
that.
Your
part is easy: just remove the labels from your empty prescription pill bottles
(no large bottles please) and bring them to our collection box at the Fall
Show. We'll take care of the rest. With these containers, rural
pharmacies and hospitals can dispense medicines in pill bottles instead of torn
pieces of paper. Small over-the-counter pill bottles can also be donated.
Since
this is an on-going program, please also consider taking a picture with your
phone of the address below so you can continue to participate after the
show.

Nita's Nook
Whimsical artist Anita Bailey's studio is stuffed with treasures she has saved throughout the years. When she has ideas, such as the shoes below, she uses these items to bring her creations to life.
Adding a touch of whimsy to stools, chairs, lamps, and other things is fun for Anita. She loves to design wall hangings and pocketbooks using the traditional rug-hooking method, often using the collection of vintage rugs left by her aunt as inspiration.
The challenge to create a variety of artistic objects is one Anita embraces each day. Check out Anita's creations at the Fall Sale on November 21!

Pull out your supplies and get to work!
We're thrilled to kick off this season's sneak peeks with art from new member Deborah Smith!
About her process, Deb says, "I don't plan anything about my work. I pull out my containers and I go to work. I have no idea of what the end result will be!" As you can see, her method creates beautiful art that is filled with color and movement.
Please mark your calendars for our November 21, 2015 Fall Show, where you can see Deb's work and much, much more! And stay tuned for more sneak peeks, coming soon!
