Gail Wall has been making metal art since taking an iron blacksmithing class at Penland in 2000, where she fell in love with the process, materials, and forging. Although she learned traditional technique from apprenticing with a German blacksmith, she tends to work intuitively with the metals and create images that come to her as she begins a project.
Her work is often inspired by stories, fables, and nature. She also loves the human body and hands, which may be related to her occupational therapy background. Dreams also inspire Gail's work!
